the nvirohaus is carefully constructed off-site to the Passivhaus standard, adopting an envelope system, Hempcell, which combines natural materials – timber, hemcrete and hemp fibre insulation – to minimise its environmental impact.  The hemp is grown and processed in the UK and incorporated into the building components and assembled in the factory in Oxfordshire.  Efficiencies in production and simplified erection on site will offer affordable costs comparable with traditional homes.

By using the Hempcell system customers get a quick build and a predictable programme at all times of the year giving the thermal advantages of solid wall construction in a programme time of a lightweight timber frame.  And the combination of low energy use and low carbon output and the use of natural materials will enable the nvirohaus to achieve a high performance with low environmental impact – comfortable, affordable, sustainable.
